Services we now offer …. Confidential telephone support is available to anyone who has recently lost a pet or pet owners who are facing the difficult decision of pet euthanasia. Our phone support system will link you up with one of our trained volunteers who will listen to your story and help you to better understand your thoughts and feelings. Support meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month in Edmonton. Please phone to confirm your attendance. You may attend meetings free of charge. Family and friends are welcome to attend as well. The Pet Therapy Society publishes a “PAWS To Remember” newsletter quarterly which includes articles, stories and comforting poems. A Celebration of Remembrance is held the first Sunday in December to honour the memory of departed pets and to celebrate the wonderful memories that live on in our hearts. Resource material available includes an extensive collection of general interest articles, books, tapes and videos. If you have a specific concern, for example, pet loss and children, we will send you copies of material addressing your area of concern. Donations of resource materials are, of course, always welcome. Our “Memories That Heal” album includes special tributes and writings that help bring comfort to those who are grieving. Please feel free to send in newspaper clippings, poems and “In Memoriam” letters and stories for our album of “Memories That Heal.” We know that the death of a beloved pet is one of the most devastating losses an individual or family can face. Often, others do not understand and the grieving pet owner feels very much alone in their grief. But you are not alone. The Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta understands and cares.
