PAWSitive Training Tips were written by Virginia (Gin) Cummings and are a regular feature in “PAWS Print” newsletter of the Pet Therapy Society. Gin’s background in dog training goes back over forty years and has included showing, obedience, working herding, tracking and personal protection. She was the owner and training director of Western Canine Academy prior to her retirement from commercial dog training. She has been an active member of the Canadian Kennel Club serving as Obedience Representative for Alberta and Northwest Territories and on various CKC legislative committees. She is a well-respected all-breed obedience judge and was named Canadian Kennel Club Obedience Judge of the Year in 2001.
